This may seem like a stupid question, but here it goes: Is it the law of the universe that girls just HATE their mother in-laws? I mean it seems a little harsh, hate is such a strong word, but it seems that every where I look, there is a problem with women and their mother in-laws. I, myself, am no exception, I have a few problems with my mother in-law that have not, and may not be resolved, but I don't HATE the woman. However a friend of mine, who until recently, lived in her boyfriend's basement with her boyfriend now cannot stanhd the woman and will not talk to her at any cost. It's sad to watch the whole thing go down, but part of me sides with her and part of me sides with the mother in-law.
Since my friend and her boyfriend are now living with me until they find a place of their own, I realized that my own mother also has problems with my grandmother and my boyfriends mother also had problems with his grandmother and it seems that way with the rest of my family. I dunno maybe I'm just crazy for reading too much into it, but it just seems werid that this all happens. Everything does happen for a reason and my friend and her boyfriend have never been so united and so strong together before this incident, however I can't imagine what his mom is going through, since her son has (for a lack of a better term) taken the side of his girlfriend.
So here is my main question: Is there an unwritten rule that girlfriends/wives are supposed to fight over the attention of their man with their mother in-law and if so....who the heck came up with it?!
